Which? Magazine Review on Fattrap Cooking Oil Recycling solution
“…We tested Fattrap to see if it really can save you both time and protect your kitchen sink.
The Fattrap itself looks like a large, narrow teabag and is made from 100% organic materials – a thin paper packet containing super absorbent coconut pith.
It’s simple to use – you just have to place it in pans that have been used for cooking and either leave it to absorb fatty residues or use it as a wipe to give pans or spillages the once-over.
Our testers found it extremely absorbent and made light work or moderate oil residues from grilling, frying and roasting.
It’s strong enough to use as a wipe for larger dirty pans, and if you have a large amount of oil to clean up, the Fattrap’s low cost means using more than one should not be too painful on the wallet…”

Anglian Water Press Release on Fattrap Cooking Oil Disposal Pouches
“…A new organic, biodegradable pouch is helping in the fight to clean up sewers choked with fat.
Fat production for cooking purposes has tripled since the 1960s and today a lot of it is ending up down the sewer. Not only does it cost Anglian Water millions of pounds a year to clean up, it can also cause blockages in our homes which are expensive to clear.
Collette Nicholls, of Anglian Water, said: “Fat in sewers attracts vermin and if a blockage results in pollution this can be devastating for the environment and wildlife. Fat put down the sink will solidify and can block pipes and drains. We estimate that at anyone time, there are some 10,000 tonnes of fats, oils and greases in our sewers at any point in time. This is being added to daily, and we carry out sewer jetting every working day to manage this problem.”
The Organic Fat Trap is a pouch which can be used to soak up fat after cooking. The pouches are made from an organic, sustainable and recycled source, coir pith, made from coconuts…”
